iGEM Metrics and Standards

Development and dissemination of calibration protocols in iGEM, involving hundreds of teams of high-school and undergraduate students. Involved approximately 250 teams of high-school and undergraduate students worldwide in the iGEM 2018 interlaboratory study. This study simultaneously educated participants on metrics and calibration for synthetic biology and also conducted a study comparing three methods of plate reader OD calibration. This resulted in the development of a protocol that can successfully calibrate both plate reader and flow cytometer data to matching MEFL/cell units. The manuscript (currently under review) includes over 1400 co-authors, most of them high-school and undergraduate students.
