LCP Team Publishes Study on Genetic Circuit Design Automation

In a study recently published in Science, Boston University graduate student Prashant Vaidyanathan used principles from digital electronics and applies them to synthetic biology, essentially programming cells to act in a certain way. Working in a team overseen by Professor Doug Densmore, Vaidyanathan created a design software that was directly encoded into the DNA of Escherichia coli bacteria, allowing it to detect environmental conditions and make decisions based on those conditions.
