LCP Team Publishes Study on Genetic Circuit Design Automation

April 15, 2016

In a study recently published in Science, Boston University graduate student Prashant Vaidyanathan used principles from digital electronics and applies them to synthetic biology, essentially programming cells to act in a certain way. Working in a team overseen by Professor Doug Densmore, Vaidyanathan created a design software that was directly encoded into the DNA of Escherichia coli bacteria, allowing it to detect environmental conditions and make decisions based on those conditions. Read more about it here and read the full study here.
